1.Introduction
These Digital Banking Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MainTrust MFB Mobile Application (“Mobile App”) and related electronic banking services provided by MainTrust MFB Plc (“the Bank”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
The Mobile App provides customers with convenient access to banking services through digital channels. By registering, accessing, or using the Mobile App, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms, the Bank’s Privacy Policy, Account Terms and Conditions, Electronic Banking Guidelines, and other applicable policies.
These Terms are issued in accordance with applicable Nigerian laws and regulations, including requirements of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
2.Definitions
For the purpose of these Terms:
- “Customer” or “You” means an individual or entity registered to use the MainTrust MFB Mobile Application.
- “Mobile App” means the MainTrust MFB digital banking application.
- “Authentication Credentials” means security information used to verify your identity, including passwords, PINs, OTPs, tokens, biometrics, and other security methods.
- “Transaction” means any financial or non-financial instruction initiated through the Mobile App.
- “Device” means the mobile phone, tablet, or electronic device used to access the Mobile App.
3.Acceptance and Consent
By downloading, installing, registering, or using the Mobile App, you:
- Confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms.
- Consent to the processing of your personal information as described in the Bank’s Privacy Policy.
- Agree that electronic instructions submitted through your authenticated Mobile App session may be treated as valid instructions from you.
4.Registration and Customer Verification
To access the Mobile App, you may be required to complete identity verification processes, including:
- Account verification.
- Customer identification checks.
- OTP authentication.
- Biometric verification.
- Device registration.
- Other regulatory or security verification requirements.
You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration. The Bank may refuse registration or restrict access where identity verification requirements are not satisfied.
5.Device Registration and Device Binding
For enhanced security, the Bank may implement device binding controls. Device binding may include:
- Linking your account to a registered mobile device.
- Monitoring device identifiers.
- Restricting access from unauthorized devices.
- Requiring additional verification when accessing from a new device.
You must notify the Bank immediately where:
- Your registered device is lost or stolen.
- Your SIM card is compromised.
- You suspect unauthorized access.
- Your mobile number changes.
The Bank may deactivate registered devices or require re-registration for security purposes.
6.Authentication and Security Requirements
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication credentials. You must:
- Keep your PIN, password, OTP, and security information confidential.
- Avoid sharing authentication details with anyone.
- Avoid storing passwords insecurely.
- Ensure your device has adequate security protection.
- Log out after completing transactions where applicable.
You acknowledge that:
- The Bank will not request your PIN, password, or OTP through unsolicited communication.
- Transactions authenticated through approved security methods may be considered authorized by you.
7.Biometrics Authentication
Where biometric authentication is enabled, you authorize the Bank to use biometric verification methods to authenticate your identity. Biometric information may be used for:
- Secure login.
- Transaction authentication.
- Fraud prevention.
- Identity verification.
The Bank will process biometric information in accordance with applicable data protection laws and security standards. You may disable biometric authentication through your device settings or Mobile App settings.
9.Transaction Limits
The Bank may apply transaction limits based on:
- Regulatory requirements.
- Customer risk profile.
- Account type.
- Security considerations.
The Bank may revise transaction limits periodically and communicate such changes through appropriate channels.
10.Failed, Pending, and Reversed Transactions
A transaction may fail, remain pending, or be reversed due to:
- Network interruptions.
- System downtime.
- Third-party service failures.
- Regulatory restrictions.
- Incorrect transaction details.
Where a transaction fails:
- The Bank will make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue promptly.
- Funds deducted incorrectly will be investigated and reversed where applicable.
- Customers may report unresolved transaction issues through official complaint channels.
11.Unauthorized Transactions and Fraud Reporting
Customers must immediately notify the Bank where they suspect:
- Unauthorized transactions.
- Account compromise.
- Lost or stolen devices.
- Fraudulent activities.
Reports should include relevant transaction details to enable investigation. The Bank may investigate reported incidents and apply appropriate measures in accordance with regulatory requirements. Customers are responsible for losses arising from negligence, including voluntarily sharing authentication credentials.
12.Customer Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Maintain accurate account information.
- Use the Mobile App responsibly.
- Review transaction alerts and statements.
- Report suspicious activities promptly.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
You must not:
- Allow another person to access your Mobile App.
- Use another customer's credentials.
- Attempt to bypass security controls.
- Use the Mobile App for illegal activities.
13.Digital Banking Charges
The Bank may apply charges for certain services accessed through the Mobile App. Applicable fees shall be communicated through approved channels and may include:
- Transfer charges.
- Payment service fees.
- Third-party service charges.
- Regulatory fees.
14.Transaction Notifications and Alerts
The Bank may send notifications through:
- SMS.
- Email.
- Push notifications.
- In-app notifications.
Customers are responsible for ensuring their contact information remains accurate.
15.Third-Party Integrations
The Mobile App may integrate with approved third-party service providers, including:
- Payment processors.
- Identity verification providers.
- Government platforms.
- Technology service providers.
The Bank ensures third-party providers are subject to appropriate confidentiality and data protection obligations.
16.Data Protection and Privacy
MainTrust MFB processes customer information in accordance with:
- Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
- Applicable CBN regulations.
- The Bank’s Privacy Policy.
Customer information may be processed for:
- Providing banking services.
- Authentication.
- Fraud monitoring.
- Regulatory compliance.
- Service improvement.
Customers have rights regarding their personal information as stated in the Privacy Policy.
17.Service Availability
The Bank will make reasonable efforts to ensure continuous availability of the Mobile App. However, services may be unavailable due to:
- Maintenance activities.
- Technology upgrades.
- Network disruptions.
- Security incidents.
- Events beyond the Bank's reasonable control.
18.Customer Complaints and Dispute Resolution

- Regulatory requirements demand such action.
- These Terms are breached.
- The customer relationship is terminated.
20.Intellectual Property Rights
All intellectual property rights relating to the Mobile App, including software, trademarks, logos, and content, belong to MainTrust MFB or its licensed partners. Unauthorized copying, modification, reverse engineering, or distribution is prohibited.
21.Changes to Terms
The Bank reserves the right to modify these Terms periodically. Updated Terms may be communicated through:
- Mobile App notifications.
- Website publication.
- Email.
- SMS.
Continued use of the Mobile App after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
22.Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
